You don't need a bigger house or a weekend-long purge. You need a plan that fits a busy family's real week and rules that make letting go quick instead of painful.
Declutter Your Home in 30 Days gives you a day-by-day calendar of short 20- to 45-minute sessions, plus two weekend sessions for the garage and storage spaces. You'll clear the kitchen, closets, bathrooms, bedrooms, living room, kids' rooms, garage, paperwork, sentimental items and even your phone and inbox, with a checklist for every room.
The decision rules end the endless maybe pile. The four-box system gives every keep, donate, sell and trash item a clear exit plan, including where to recycle batteries, electronics, paint and old medicine. You'll learn how to sell on Facebook Marketplace, eBay and through consignment, with listing templates, message scripts, and the safety rules and payment scams to watch for.
You'll also get plain-English tax basics for donations, including the IRS rules on household goods and what changed for 2026, a paper retention table based on IRS guidance so you know what to keep and what to shred, word-for-word scripts for getting your partner, kids and relatives on board, and simple daily and weekly routines that stop the clutter from coming back.
No shame, no perfection, no expensive bins first. Just a calmer home, one small session at a time.

The four-box system is simple: every item you touch goes into one of four boxes. The secret is not the boxes; it's having a clear exit plan for each box so nothing lingers. Box 1: KEEP Items you use, love, and have a place for. At the end of each session, the keep box gets emptied: everything goes back to its home, or, if it doesn't have one yet, to a temporary spot marked with painter's tape until you set up systems in Chapter 15. Belongs elsewhere? Keep a small fifth "relocate" basket for items that belong in another room. Empty it at the end of every session by walking each item to its room. Don't get distracted organizing that room. Box 2: DONATE Items in good, usable condition that someone else can use. Exit plan: Bag or box donations at the end of each session. Put the bags directly in your car trunk. Drop off within seven days. Put a recurring donation run on the calendar. Get a receipt if you plan to itemize deductions (Chapter 14), and photograph what you donated.
